Common Questions
Everything you need to know about gentle forest walking at Curraghchase
Absolutely. We've designed our beginner trails specifically for people returning to walking, with gentle gradients and plenty of places to rest. Most of our routes stay under 2 miles, and we're right here to adjust the pace to what works for you.
Spring and autumn are lovely — spring brings woodland flowers and birdsong, while autumn has incredible colour and drier paths. Summer works too, though it can be busier. Winter's quieter if you don't mind cooler weather and potentially muddy sections.
Not at all. Good walking shoes with grip are all you need for our beginner trails — we've got a whole guide on footwear if you'd like specifics. Bring water, a light layer, and maybe a walking pole if you find them helpful for balance. That's genuinely it.
We keep groups to 8–12 people maximum so it stays personal and we can genuinely chat about what we're seeing. Smaller groups mean we can adjust pace and stop when something interesting catches your eye — a bird, a particular tree, or just a good spot to rest and take in the woodland.
We keep an eye on forecasts and can reschedule if conditions look genuinely unsafe. Light rain isn't a problem — the woodland's actually beautiful in it — but we'll always let you know what to expect and give you the option to postpone.
Get in touch and let's chat about what would work for you. We've adapted walks for people with various concerns, and sometimes one-on-one coaching sessions work better than group walks. We're here to make this accessible, not to stick to a one-size-fits-all approach.
